Frequency Use Cases: Mystery Board
What Is a Mystery Board?
A Mystery Board is a promotion where multiple missions are arranged in a board format, and participants take part in one board cell at a time according to a set participation cycle to reveal the mission or reward.
Using Frequency’s Entry Condition Settings, Mission Setup, and Mission Combination Setup features, participation can be limited to one mission per participation cycle, with missions and rewards configured for each cell on the board.
The key to a Mystery Board is to prevent participants from knowing which mission or reward is assigned to each cell before participating. Rather than displaying all mission or reward details from the beginning, design the board so that the contents are revealed one by one as participants take part or complete missions, encouraging curiosity about the next participation opportunity and repeated participation.

We recommend designing the Mystery Board so that participants cannot view the missions or rewards assigned to each board cell before participating.
- Do not display mission or reward details in board cells that have not yet been participated in. Reveal the contents of the cell after participation or mission completion, and configure completed board cells so that
they can be distinguished from their pre-participation state.
- Rather than displaying all mission or reward details from the beginning, configure the board so that participants can reveal the contents of one new board cell each time they participate,
encouraging interest in the next participation opportunity.
Setting the Mission Participation Cycle and Count
Before configuring missions for a Mystery Board, under Promotion Settings > Entry Condition Settings, select Set the mission participation cycle and count. under Participation Limit Settings.

In the Participation Count Settings section below, set the cycle and number of times participants can take part in missions.
- When creating a Mystery Board promotion, set the mission participation cycle according to how the promotion will be operated, and set Maximum per Criteria (= maximum number of participations per cycle) to 1 Participation Allowed so that participants can take part in only one mission during each cycle.
- Example: To allow participation in one mission per day, set the criteria to Day / 1 Day and Maximum per Criteria to 1 Participation Allowed.

Configuring Missions for Each Board Cell
Under Manage Promotions > Mission Settings, configure the missions to apply to each cell of the Mystery Board in the Mission Setup section.
- Configure each board cell to correspond to one mission, and set the mission completion condition for each mission according to how the promotion will be operated.
